Chelsea are keen on West Ham midfielder Declan Rice according to reports from England. It is thought that Blues boss Frank Lampard is the one driving the transfer as he believes that Rice can add a new dimension to the team.
Rice has been one of the top young midfielders in the Premier League since his breakthrough campaign some seasons back. With West Ham in a precarious position in the League, West Ham could be forced to sell in the summer.
The Sun reports that Lampard has revealed to club insiders of his wish to convert Rice from the holding midfield role to a centre-back position. This according to the report is Rice’s natural position and Lampard believes he has the qualities to thrive in the club.
Chelsea have inquired about the services of the young midfielder and have been told that they would need to spend around £45million for his services. The Blues have been on a summer spree and have signed the attacking duo of Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech.
