London club Arsenal are said to be interested in Crystal Palace forward Wilfred Zaha according to reports from England. The Daily Express claims that the Gunners are set to make a bid for the Ivorian as they look to strengthen in January.
Arsenal had been linked to the skillful attacker in the summer with the club making several bids which was rejected by Crystal Palace. This prompted the club to move for his countryman Nicolas Pepe in what is the club record transfer fee.
Pepe has so far failed to impress consistently for the club and the current plight of Arsenal has seen the club drop to the bottom half of the table. Zaha meanwhile has impressed for the Eagles this season with the club sitting above the Gunners.
It is understood that Palace have placed an £80 million price-tag on the player and this would mean that the North London club would have to surpass their current transfer record to sign him. Arsenal have broken their transfer record in the past three seasons on strikers but this has yet to transform to success for the club.
It would be beneficial if the club would spend on its problematic defence and midfield rather than sanctioning anther big-money move for a player they don’t need.
