Manchester City are reportedly favourites to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly according to reports from Europe. The Citizens are thought to be keen on adding a center back to the team following their failed titled challenge this season.
It is understood that manager Pep Guardiola wants to have a formidable defence as he looks to mount a title defence next season and is insistent on the Senegal international.
English transfer expert Duncan Castles reports that City have surged ahead of Liverpool in the race for the 28-year-old. Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast he revealed that the current sentiment within Napoli is that the defender would end up at Man City.
“The word from people close to Koulibaly is he thinks there’s a strong chance he will end up at Man City.
“The noises and effort City have made so far and their greater need for a top centre-back make it favourable to Koulibaly.
If Koulibaly makes the move to England, that would make Man City formidable and ensure that they are up there for the title challenge.
