Manchester City are reportedly interested in the signature of Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell. It is understood that the Citizens are keen on signing the defender as a solution to their left-back woes.
Benjamin Mendy has failed to stay fit consistently with Pep Guardiola having to utilize Oleksandr Zinchenko in the left-back position. Chilwell is a longterm target for the EPL champions and a bid could be made in the summer.
City rivals Chelsea have also expressed interest in the defender with reports saying that the Blues are willing to pay a huge fee for his services. Manager Frank Lampard has a war chest of transfer funds available and the England international is seen as an ideal fit for the Blues.
Leicester meanwhile have placed a valuation higher than that of Harry Maguire who was sold to Manchester United for £80million last summer.
The Covid-19 crisis could be a major deterrent for a huge transfer bid and an offer closer to £60million could be sufficient to sign the highly-rated left-back.
Chilwell has the tools to succeed in a bigger club and only time would tell if he eventually makes his dream move in the summer.
