Arsenal have been dealt a transfer blow as key summer target Orkun Kokcu has signed a contract extension with Feyenoord.
The talented midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in January and there were speculations that he could be on his way to the Emirates in the summer. However, the 19-year-old has laid speculations to bed with the announcement of a five year deal with the Netherland outfit.
Kokcu is regarded as one of the top young midfielders in the Dutch League and has enjoyed a steady growth in the past few seasons. Arsenal chief Edu was thought to be working on a deal for the player but this would become complicated with news of a new deal for the youngster.
It is unknown whether there is a buyout clause in his contract and Arsenal would have to turn their sights to other targets. It is understood that Atletico Madrid midfielder Thomas Partey is likely to make a move to the Emirates in the summer.
